Indian Council for Scientific Research & Social Development undertake various activities like providing support services to women, promoting gender equality and empower women, setting up shelter homes for women in difficult circumstances, setting up working women hostels, preventing gender based violence (GBV) or violence against women (VAW), rehabilitating sex workers, imparting vocational training, forming women self help groups (SHGs) and cooperatives, facilitating credit and market linkages, entrepreneurship development programmes (EDP) and promoting self-employment, advocating against sex selective abortion and female foeticide, raising awareness on save and educate the girl child (beti bachao beti padhao), implementing one-stop center scheme, operating women helplines (WHL), prevent trafficking and rescue, rehabilitation and re-integration of victims of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation, etc.

Most of the activities undertaken by Indian Council for Scientific Research & Social Development contribute towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal- SDG 5- Gender Equality- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, SDG 4- Quality Education- Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and SDG 8- Decent work and economic growth- Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
