Indian Council for Scientific Research & Social Development undertake various activities like legal awareness and legal literacy programme for women and girls, provide legal aid, counsel and assistance to victims of violence and trafficking, organize campaigns, seminars and workshops to educate people on legal procedures, cyber laws, Right to Information Act, etc. Eligible persons for legal aid include women and children, members of SC/ST, industrial workmen, victims of natural or man- made disaster, persons with disabilities, persons in custody, victims of human trafficking, etc.

Some of the activities undertaken by Indian Council for Scientific Research & Social Development contribute towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal- SDG 16- Peace, justice and strong institutions- Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective and accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
